OK starter lens
Summary: good lens clear bright pictures. A good starter lens. Not the best but ok for everyday pictures. This is a nice kit lens for someone to use everyday. I have taken some good pictures outside with this , needs good lighting for inside. I keep this on my backup camera for quick snapshots when traveling. I would recommend this lens for a new photographer, it is simple to use and gives ok results.
Excerpt: Clear and Sharp report other users... Probably at the very center and moderate apertures. But the edges are a little worse than awful. And I seldomly use the widest aperture for the very same reason. Hands down, the worse lens I've ever tried. Shame on Sony.. how dare they!
Summary: When I got my NEX VG20 I only had the body. My next few lenses were prime without stabilization. These provide great results on a tripod. Then I got the Metabones adapter to put my 18-270 Tamron on the NEX, and I got stabilization but no autofocus during video shooting. So when I bought this 18-55mm OSS lens, my VG20 camera felt like a camcorder for the first time. Now, mind you, this is a 3.5 lens, you cannot use it to film in pitch dark, say, in a nightclub.
Summary: Two years ago decided to enter the dslr field with the nex line. Since then have aquired 5 bodies from diferent nex models (2 Nex-3,2 Nex-5,1 Nex-C3). Since I'm a hobbist with several fields of interest in photography I find it more practical to use each body for a diferent field. One body I use mainly in panorama shooting mode and this lens I consider outstanding for this object.
Summary: Best price for this lens I could find, by far. Shipped and received early from Korea. Lens was exactly as described and meets my needs for a low cost wide angle lens. If you're looking for a low cost wide angle lens, this is the one for you.
