Exceptional Pro Fast Mid-tele lens

Mike the eye, Adorama
19 February 2014
  • Excerpt: I use this lens on my A99, and shoot it at f2.8 or 4 whenever possible. It's tack sharp, from f4 on down, and f2.8 is as sharp or sharper than either the new Canon or Nikon 24-70 f2.8. This is also an excellent portrait lens for in the field (I use its shorter Zeiss counterpart in the studio), but it is large and heavy. The color rendition, contrast and sharpness of this mid-tele rivals that of several primes due to its new coatings. Flare and CA are non-existent.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Heavy
