Very capable, lightweight and well specified cheap to buy lens. 5 stars

rustiebin, Ebay
20 June 2013
  • Summary: Bought secondhand to give me a bit more range than my Tamron 17-50 XR 2.8, this Sigma has really surprised me. Its compact and light but the zoom action is smooth and the AF snappy. Optical quality is excellent when stopped down a little but still acceptable wide open. Internal focusing and non rotating front element is a real bonus at this price point. As is the metal mount. Given it 5 stars across the board because it really can't be critised for what it offers.

nikon 105mm f/2.8 micro lens

graybeard38, Ebay
8 April 2011
  • Summary: Excellent lens, the macro effects are outstanding, this is what I was looking for in a micro lens. I prefer to use MF on macro photography as it gives me more control of the background.

DOA for sony alpha camera

mike wood, Amazon
27 December 2010
  • Summary: i ran into a problem in that this lense will not work with the sony alpha (a330) in auto mode, flash on. It will only work in auto mode, flash off. a check using google found a few other users with the same problem. I took this lense on vacation and used it in sunny conditions w/o a problem. Now i tested it indoors. No dice. I thought I had a bad lense, now it appears to be a manufacturing defect. it is either try and get it re-chipped or get something else.

Sigma 28-105mm f/3.8-5.6 UC III for Pentax AF

ponycardave, Ebay
10 December 2010
  • Summary: I find this to be a very suitable alternative to more expensive lenses in this category. Altho I have not used it much since purchasing it, I am really pleased with it so far. No problems using it with my Pantax DSLR. I am a casual photographer and beginner with digital photography, so it suits me fine. Others have written that it's not such a good lens, but those folks are maybe high end photographers with much more stringent standards.

Better than the lens that came with the camera

masimba13, Ebay
2 December 2010
  • Summary: This lens was one up on the 18-55mm lens that came with my Pentax K100D. I know that this is 28-105, but when shooting in the same range, this lens gives me a better response. For the low price, this Promaster lens is definitely value for money. I had accumulated several 52mm filters, so while the lens that shipped with my camera has a 52mm filter thread, this one is 62mm leaving me no option but to look at new filters. But for a faster lens you can expect that.

Good lens for the price

sax155, Ebay
3 September 2010
  • Summary: I bought this lens from a previous owner, but it was damaged so I couldn't really try it, and use it. I could only try the manual focus mode and the lowest aperture. In those cases it worked great.
