Excellent general purpose lens

oldbiker-74pan, Ebay
11 May 2014
  • Summary: This lens is used on my D700 Nikon. Unit functions as well as a Nikkor lens at a lower price. Picture quality in all modes is excellent, color rendition is excellent, all functions work as if it were a Nikkor lens. Very satisfied with the lens.

Steve from Michigan, Adorama

  • Excerpt: I purchased this lens to shoot wedding rings with great detail. It will certainly do the job. The image stabilization will keep from from bring a tripod. I am very pleased with this lens and consider a good lens for the price (under $700).
  • Pros: Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Strong Construction

Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro review by RJNaylor

RJNaylor, slrgear.com
13 January 2014
  • Summary: I've been shooting this lens for a few weeks and have pretty much left it on my second body (I was using a 50-200 or a 70-300 on it). Most people use it for macro but I really got it to extend the range of my Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 OS and it fills in beautifully for most things. Its low light focusing on my D7000 is fast and good. the OS is effective but you should give it a half second to settle. It is sharp at f/2.8 and really tack sharp at f/4 and good all way to f/16.
  • Pros: Great bokeh, fast lens, sharp
  • Cons: none

Terrific Lens & Retailer

Wynnsfalls, B&H Photo
26 December 2013
  • Excerpt: I am a Hobby photographer and have wanted a Macro lens for a long time. B&H's price and Sigma's great lens allowed me to obtain one. It is proving to be one of my best lens. Very sharp and clear photos. The only minus to it is that it is under rated. Professional photographers may feel the need to buy the more expensive brands but this one is perfect for me.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
  • Cons: NONE

Sigma 105mm Wonder

Stephen R. Payne, Amazon
3 October 2013
  • Summary: The only reason that I have given this lens a four star rating is due to the fact that this is the older model of this lens and I purchased it used from a seller on Amazon.com. Had some trepidations about buying something of this nature used and unseen. Must say that I was pleasantly surprised at the condition and cleanliness of lens, well taken care of. Will be looking at used lenses in the future. As stated this is the older model Sigma 105mm macro lens.

Wonderful dedicated lens.

S. R. Payne, Amazon
3 October 2013
  • Summary: I purchased this lens used from a seller on Amazon.com. This being my very first used lens purchase I can tell you that I was filled with doubts about it's quality. After it's receipt all doubts were washed away. It is a beautiful macro lens and it's abilities for taking those very close up and personal photos are the proof. This lens is the older model of the two that are available thru Amazon.com.

If you see one, get it!

Capsloc, Amazon
14 May 2013
  • Summary: This lens is great for 1:1 macro, it's true macro pretty much. You'll most likely have to get a tripod for real close up shots, but wow! It's sharp at around f4 and f5.6. I have also been using this a portrait lens and the photos are coming out great as well! Definite not regretting this purchase, even though it wasn't from Amazon.

  • Pros: Sharp. Very sharp. Good colorrending.
