The Sigma AF 105mm f/2.8 EX macro DG is a recent update to the well-known Sigma AF 105mm f/2.8 EX macro. It's not a totally new lens (the new DG (Digital) designation refers to an improved coating optimized for digital sensors), but that's not necessarily a bad sign Read more
The Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens is - as you can discern from the name - Sigma's entry in the fixed short-telephoto focal length Read more
A good lens made better. The improvement in contrast and extra control of flare and ghosting provided by the DG coating are, in themselves, worth the upgrade. Improvements have also been made to the hood along with a reduction, albeit slight, in the AF noise. Optical quality cannot really be faulted and with the edges performing as well as the centre on a cropped camera you can expect good edge performance on a full frame body too. Read more
The Sigma Macro 105mm F2.8 EX DG is an excellent telephoto macro lens. It delivers images at normal focusing ranges that are crisp and clear and of high image quality. It also creates realistic images at life-size magnification. This lens is a high performance lens, optimized for digital SLR's but suitable for 35mm SLR's as well. This is a quality Sigma product that would be a great addition to your photographic equipment collection. Read more
Finished in Sigma's signature matt-black coating and with an EX gold ring at the front, this is a good looking lens that exhibits excellent mid-aperture sharpness. There are two settings on the lens to switch between AF and MF modes: one is a short slider close to the lens flange (to activate the AF drive); the other is a forwards/back movement of the focus ring (to disengage the focus ring). It is a potential inconvenience to have to make two settings but the advantage... Read more
This is a great lens, the picture quality is outstanding. I have used this for macro as well as portrait shots and have not been disappointed in the results. Photographs are very sharp, you can shoot at f/2.8 in low light or on a tripod up close at f/32 in order to achieve the DOF you desire. I am a name brand person and always fell that you get what you pay for, that said I am extremely happy with this purchase, this lens is 1/2 the cost of the nikon. I have not shot... Read more
:):) I guess the reason you are here because you don't want to spen d a lot of money on a Canon 100mm f/2.8, right? Don't worry, this lens is as good as the Canon 100mm f/2.8! They say that there is a slight difference but you can't notice. My friend has the Canon 100mm and none of us could tell the difference in image quality...! It is much cheaper than the Canon!!!! You can check my ring pictures under the "I do" section: www.haringphotography.com I hope this help! Read more

I spent a lot of time researching this purchae. I wanted a good, fixed focus telephoto lens for my Olympus E3. The reviews on the Sigma lens were all very high. In use it produces very sharp and color true images. The relatively fast 2.8 aperture is a benefit. After almost a month with the lens I am very pleased with the performance. I find only one drawback and that is a slowness of focusing when going from telephoto to macro. The lens hunts too long to find the focus... Read more
