Summary: Simply amazing lens!! Super sharp and precise, gorgeous bokeh, maybe it is me but feels that my photography is more live when i use it...! I'd buy it again if lost, it comes with me everywhere i go along with my 17 - 50 f/2.8 also by Sigma. Quit fooling around buy it!!
The build quality seems to be very good although the lens is not metal like the Canon

Summary: This lens was highly rated against the Canon equivalent at half the price. The only complaint was that it was not as rugged as the Canon. I am not a professional and do not subject my equipment to some of the rigors of a working photographer so I don't worry about this. The build quality seems to be very good although the lens is not metal like the Canon. All the controls are smooth in use.

Summary: kinda new at photography had a 35mm when kids where growing up,bought my first DSLR ( nikon d3100 ) used and liked the camera but not the kit lens two yrs ago, upgraded to the Nikon d7100 two months ago and needed better glass for a better camera...had the lens a week and all I can say is WOW what a difference over the Tamron 70-300 Di VC SP 4/5.6 I had been using...color is fantastic..
Summary: I originally used this lens with my Nikon D300 but it really came into its own when used with my D800. The Sigma VR works well and allows me to shoot hand held at lower shutter speeds without having to use a tripod or monopod. The bokeh is pleasing and the lens has a fast and quiet AF. I have used it for sports, travel, and portraits. It is ruggedly built and is a good alternative to the Nikon equivalent but at a reduced price.
Summary: Ahhh.. the difference on this upgrade. I can't say enough about it. I'm a professional photographer and this lens more than meets my expectations. Crisp, sharp and overall Awesome!!! Definitely worth the money spent at a fraction of the cost of Nikon's version. 100 % satisfied!
