Amazing Focal Length and Super Macro!

TreasuredMemoriesFoto "Treasured Memories", Amazon
13 June 2012
  • Summary: I originally purchased this lens for my Nikon N80 SLR, then used it on Canon EOS Elan model and Nikon D70s. Works magnificently for all these cameras. Amazing clear and crisp images, I really love the focal length. I have used it a lot in the zoo, scenery, monuments and sports photography.

This is a great lens

LBGyrl, Amazon

  • Summary: I purchased this lens to use with my pentax k-r. So far it has exceeded my expectations. I like the fact that I can switch between normal and macro shots. It takes great closeup portraits that are very clear. This is a great addition to my 50-200 and 18-55 mm lenses.

great little zoom

Carol Chesney, Amazon
12 October 2006
  • Summary: The zoom range and macro mode make it a very useful all-around tele-photo lens. I have taken some very sharp macro shots and have had no problem with vignetting. My interest is urban wildlife and this lens can cover just about all my needs.

Great Quality Lens

"fozzieb1", Amazon
12 October 2006
  • Summary: This lens was an upgrade from my old Sigma 75-300 zoom, which was fine in it's time but just plain worn out. For those who aren't familiar with the Minolta Maxxum series, be aware that this lens has a pretty slow auto focus, but that is a limitation of the body and not the lens and it is still...

Wonderful quality for the money!

Catherine J. Nestor "photobuff55", Amazon

  • Summary: I own two Nikon N80 bodies. I used to own Nikon lenses only. Then I had trouble with the Nikon zoom and traded it in for a Sigma. Funny thing - the Sigma focused more clearly and easily than Nikon's own lens!

A Great Lens for Sports, Close-Ups or Girl Watching

MartyHansen, Amazon
12 October 2006
  • Summary: As a telephoto zoom, this lens is very versatile. Its a fine (100-135mm) portrait lens. Its great for sports or animal photography (135-300mm). With the macro feature, its wonderful for taking photos of flowers and nature. And with its long telephoto capability, it makes a cool girl watching lens.

Decent for the price

Austin M. May, Amazon
12 October 2006
  • Summary: I'm a (new) military photojournalist, and I shoot for a hobby, too. I tend to stick with the budget accessories so I can still afford groceries. I bought this lens used, with two filters, for $120.

Made a Novice Photographer Look Like An Expert

Joseph L. Costa, Amazon
21 June 2003
  • Summary: Just began taking pictures with my Minolta Maxxum 5, which came with a lens up to 90mm. That was great but I wanted more. Since I like taking nature pictures, and portraits, I needed a macro lens. This one fit the bill. I highly recommend it to anyone.
