Summary: Nice lens, focus is quiet and quick, much better than screw drive. Not the sharpest wide open but most zooms are not. Just stop the lens down a bit. On Pentax cameras this is no need for the optical stabilization so just leave it off. Sigma has removed this on their newer Pentax lens.
Summary: Great lens for the price (especially if you buy a used one for $180 like I did). + Metal bayonet (most Nikkor lenses are plastic) + The HSM (IMO, the biggest advantage this lens has over similar lenses in the same price range) works as advertised, fast and surprisingly quiet.
Summary: Excellent lens, and reasonable too! Smooth and quiet zoom and auto focus. Images are tack sharp and lens is compact and not heavy....I shoot at or around f8, image quality might not be as good shooting wide open or at very small apertures, but in the f8 area its wonderful..............
Summary: I love love love this lens! I was impressed when I opened the box by the quality compared to the kit lens. Amazing image quality. I can definitely tell the difference! I couldn't be more thrilled, so I purchased the 18-50mm model as well. They are both great lenses at great prices.
Summary: I'm not a pro by any means, but I am happy with the money I spent on this lens. I'm getting some great shots. I'm sure that some more seasoned users will find fault with the glass quality, etc. And it does seem to be a bit fuzzy around the edges, but it suits my needs for now :)
Summary: I absolutely love this lens and love the picture quality. I use it with my Nikon D5100 and haven't had any problems. My only complaint is that if the lens "thinks" I'm too close to an object, it won't focus or take the picture. Other than that, I haven't had any issues with it.
