Summary: Purchased this lens with no real problems... the IS is starting to give me a little trouble. I get a wobbly focus sometimes when I hit the shutter release. I've had this problem with every Sigma lens that I have ever owned.... Good thing these lenses come with a 3 year warranty!
Excerpt: The lens felt solid and balanced well with my D7000 but I could not get good results with my D7000. The focus was hit and miss but mainly miss. I contacted Sigma directly after I returned the first lens to Adorama but they weren't much help.
Excerpt: Really bad glass. Terrible focus issue. Gave it a quick try and sent it ba eck. A similar experience to all of the other Sigma glass I have tried over te years. Costs less then Canon but not worth it.
Couldn't focus accurately, even after sent in for re-calibration.

Summary: I bought this lens hoping the bad reviews were wrong. I really wanted this to be the heart of my photo business, and that the differences between it and the Canon version were negligible - I could not have been more wrong.
Excerpt: Complete waste of money. Had to send it to Sigma to calibrate it to my camera and even after getting it back it is still unable to produce a sharp focus[...] so I am stuck with a $900 lens that is basically useless!
Summary: My first suggestion is save your money for a Canon L glass. Do not waste yourtime nor money on the Sigma. I gave it a try and it failed horribly. I took the lens on an test shoot and tested all aperture settings/shutter speed combinations. On all of my photos there was a severe front focus issue.
Summary: I hope this lens will be good, but my first copy I ordered from Amazon had an unbelievable front-focus problem. Honestly, in all lenses I ever tested I have never seen it to this extreme. It exceeds the DOF at f2.8 thus your focus point isn't even remotely in focus.
Summary: Well, purchased this lens as a backup, thought it may be nice to try Sigma instead of Nikon. What a mistake I made. Pretty much out of focus on the whole range in low light and a little on the loud side as well.
Summary: I know that the Quality Assurance at Sigma is questionable but this lens was extremely poor even by their standards. I have previously owned Sigma's 100-300mm f4 and their 150mm f2.8 lenses which were very good and I could not fault them at all, but this 24-70mm HSM was appalling!
Pros: Lightweight, Quick Focus, Strong Construction
