Summary: *DISCLAIMER: I OWN THIS IN KONICA-MINOLTA/SONY MOUNT* We'll start with the positives. This lens is EXTREMELY durable. Seriously, it's built like a tank. The US Military could probably appropriate this design as a hand-to-hand defensive combat weapon. This lens is big, heavy and solid. This is also somewhat of a drawback if you're intending to use this as a walk around lens.
Summary: I have this lens for about one year and for a time he began to peel the paint that has glass, are tiny particles that are littering the lens, the focus now is being vague and takes longer to get it. It turned out to be such a good lens. Tengo este lente hace aproximadamente 1 año y desde hace un tiempo empezó a descascararse la laca que tiene en el cristal, son pequeñas partículas que están ensuciando el lente, el foco se esta impreciso y ahora tarda más en buscarlo.
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro review by dugong5pm

Summary: for the price.. it really does worth your money. IQ is nice.. not as good as Canon's or Nikon's 24-70 but it's really ok considering the 1/3 price. Mechanics & build quality are also nice. It feels solid in your hand. AF is somewhat quite fast & silent, that's a good thing. Now the bad thing are.. it's big & heavy.. so big that it won't take your usual 77mm filter. Front glass is quite heavy, the lens creeps down when facing downward. For me, the worst of all is.
Pros: usable (wide open), smooth bokeh, fast AF, cheap!
Summary: had this lens for 1.5 years and it was my favorite lens, i also have a 70-200 Sigma as well. about two months ago the autofocus locked up. i sent it to Sigma, they fixed it free under warranty which was nice (paid $25 shipping) and one week after getting it back I have the same issue. I do a lot of beach shoots. the lens does fog up quite often and i do get sand every where.
Summary: The lens feels solid in my hand, quite well built. But I hate the "valvety" paint they use on the barrel, looks weird and difficult to clean. The IQ is decent for a lens this price. Relatively soft at f/2.8, improve noticeably at f/5.6-f/8. Since I only use f/2.8 for portraits, a little soft is not a big problem. Bokeh is average, nothing to write home about. I like the close focus feature of this lens, just perfect to fill the frame with a rose (see above).
Summary: We purchased a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX a couple of years back... just got this one (with the DG) and it's AMAZING! Depth of field, clarity, functions beautifully! GREAT lens to add to your photo bag. GET IT!
Summary: I needed an upgrade from my Kit lens for my Sony A100. I found the Sigma 24-70, 2.8 on Amazon for $100.00 cheaper than anywhere else and bought it. Fuller and more accurate colors, sharper pictures, what a great buy. It is no carl zeiss but for $1400 less, it is 90% close. With low light capability I have been using it for sport with great success. For the money I highly recommend this lens.
Summary: Good cheap replacement for the canon lens. the zoom kept locking up at first but the more i used it, the better it got. since i dont have the money to but the $1,500 canon lens, this works great for me. If used correctly, this lens provides great color and contrast. Im using it with a canon 5d and i have been really happy with the results.
