Better than the Canon Lens

JDAlaska, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I use this lens when I can only bring 1 lens with me. I originally had the Canon version of this lens but I never liked it. It was always soft, the picture quality just OK, and it felt loose and cheap. Not what I expected out of an L series lens. I purchased the sigma 35mm art lens and it is AMAZING! So, I quickly sold my canon on [@] and put the order in for the sigma 24-105mm Art lens.As soon as I pulled it out of the box I knew I was going to be happy with it.
  • Pros: Clean Image, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Optical stabilization, Rugged, Sharp, Strong Construction
  • Cons: 82mm filters, Heavy

A fantastic Lens

  • Excerpt: I used this lens for a trip out west and while a little heavy it has given me wonderful results especially under good lighting conditions. The OS is a huge plus in low light and video situations. I have this lens paired with a Nikon 610 so it is a commitment to use while hiking, but the results, paired with a comfortable neck strap, are worth the effort.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Heavy

Better than Nikon 24-70

Jihoon K im, B&H Photo
30 July 2014
  • Excerpt: I just visited the store to compare Nikon 24-70 2.8 and Sigma 24-105 today - plus I also used basic 50mm 1.4 lens at a same spot. Briefly Sharpenss - 50>sigma 24-105>nikon 24-70. Constrast(let me say,, vivid color) sigma 24-105 > 50 > Nikon 24-70. Auto Focus speed and smooth Nikon 24-70 > Sigma 24-105 > Tamron 24-70 > Sigma 24-70 (Only one reason I couldn't get sigma 24-70 was very slow auto focus but this new lens has pretty fastauto focus with NO SOUND.

Well made with quality contrast !

  • Excerpt: The Sigma 24-105 F/4 DG OS HSM lens will be used as my everyday lens mounted upon my Nikonn d800e.. The zoom range of this lens is ideal for an everyday, all around lens. Albeit photos thus far have been less than being totally sharp, I am certain that once after I've hooked this lens up to my Sigma USB Dock, corrections made will bring this lens into total sharpness!
  • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Rugged, Strong Construction

  • Excerpt: Sharp wide open and throughout the range. OS works so well I can shot handheld at 1/15th of a second. Great all purpose lens. I do use this extensively with video and I am equally happy in that regard.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction

Excellent Lens, Beats Canon version

John, B&H Photo
24 July 2014
  • Excerpt: Excellent build quality, very sharp throughout the range, very nice color and rendering, very quiet AF and OS. I find 24-70 range too limiting, especially for studio portraits, but I wasn't a big fan of the Canon version of the 24-105 L. I also have the excellent Sigma 35, and I'm beginning to think that Art is the new L.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Rugged, Strong Construction

The perfect walk around lens for FX

20 July 2014
  • Excerpt: This lens is sharp. It does have it's issues like all zoom lenses do but in reality it handles them better than most. I looked at all of the lenses in this category as well as those in the 24-70mm range. I narrowed the group down to the Sigma 24-105 and the Nikon 24-120, and though I have beeb a lifelong Nikon user the bottom line was that the Sigma out preformed the the Nikon glass. I would buy this lens again. The Sigma build quality is first rate.
  • Pros: Durable, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Heavy

Same as canon 24-105mm L IS

Adorama
3 July 2014
  • Excerpt: For the price, Canon 24-105mm L IS has better build quality with magnesium alloy barrel, deadly reliable, sharper at 105mm and holds the value well. The new price for 24-105mm L IS is only about $650 come as KIT lens compared to this one for $899. No reason to get the CANON instead of Sigma who has unknown reliability and autofocus accuracy in the future.
  • Pros: Nice Bokeh, Rugged
  • Cons: Heavy, Weak Casing
