Sigma 24-105mm f4 DG OS HSM

Camera Labs
1 April 2014
  • Summary: The Sigma 24-105/4.0 OS is an interesting standard zoom: with a 4.4x zoom range, a constant f4.0 aperture and optical image stabilization it is an attractive package for people looking at a go-to zoom for their full-frame body. It delivers a pretty good overall performance too, with impressively high resolution in the APS-C image circle and very usable performance in the outer areas of a full-frame sensor.
  • Pros: Very good image quality in the DX image-circle., Effective image stabilization., Quiet and fast AF operation., Solid build.
  • Cons: Needs stopping down to f8 to produce good FX-corners., No weather sealing., Rather strong light fall off even at the long end., Quite prone to flare.

Sigma 24-105mm f/4 DG (OS) HSM Art Lens

PhotoReview
14 April 2014
  • Summary: The 24-105mm focal length is a versatile range on cameras with 36 x 24 mm sensors. It's less attractive on cameras with APS-C sized chips, covering the equivalent of 36-157.5mm on Nikon, Pentax and Sony cameras and 38.4-168mm on Canon bodies. On 'full frame' cameras, this lens would be an excellent everyday lens, covering everything from landscapes to portraiture and event and reportage photography.

Sigma 24-105mm f/4 DG OS HSM | A ("Art") (Canon EOS) - Review / Test Report

photozone.de
29 January 2014
  • Conclusion: Sigma released some great products recently but have they really found the silver bullet in all categories ? No, they aren't there yet. Traditionally standard zoom lenses have been a weak spot in the Sigma range and the Sigma 24-105mm f/4 DG HSM OS | A is not capable of being substantially better than other lenses in this class. A highlight of the lens is certainly its amazing center performance - images are really tack sharp here and that's throughout the zoom range.

After a series of very successful launches of such devices as the Sigma A 35 mm f/1.4 DG HSM, the Sigma A 60 mm f/2.8 DN or the Sigma A 18-35 f/1.8 DC HSM people started to anticipate the next Sigma move and the next novelty the company would show.
