good used one is great buy. Also this is Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 alternative

  • Summary: Smooth Zoom and good build quality, good image quality for the price. OS is definitely plus to have steady shots. Also HSM enables to work with Nikon low end camera such as D40/D40x which do not have lens motor.

Happy with my purchase.

  • Excerpt: I have a 50mm 1.4 ons and used it as my close focus lens or carry around lens. On a trip to NC I found myself in some situations where because of the cropfactor I couldn't get in everything I wanted and needed more of a wide angle.Checking with friends the Sigma 18mm-50mm seemed to be a great fit. I havebeen very pleased so far but the weather has restricted it's use somewhat sofar.
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Have Not Used This This L, Lightweight

Good for the price

  • Excerpt: As an advanced amateur on a budget, this lens does nicely. It is acceptably sharp for the price, but obviously does not perform to the level of pricier models. The stabilization feature is a real plus.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight

Better than Canon EF-S 18-55 IS, olny heavier

Ricardo Galassi, Amazon

  • Summary: I bought this lens because my original Canon lens was broken. For my amateur needs, it is very satisfying. The 1:2.8 aperture is great, and the building seems to be strong. The built-in zoom system is very interesting. The only con is that this lens is heavier than the original Canon. Beside that, no complains at all.

A worthy lens

BeginnerDSLR, Amazon

  • Summary: I agree with some people that this isn't the sharpest lens out there. However, it is a great beginning lens. I have been shooting here, there, and everywhere. I've tried so many unique things with this lens, pushing it to its limit. So far... I'm satisfied. I'm just beginning in the DSLR world with my Canon T2i, but it is not a bad lens for the price. I opted to get this one instead of the kit lens.

Good replacement for kit lens for Canon (18-55)

Aleksey, Amazon
3 April 2012
  • Summary: I bought these lens for Canon because kit lens that came with T1i is too bad. What i definitely can say is that replacement worth the price. The quality of images are way better and if you looking for upgrade, then this is probably the best choice. I got the lens in time, and have not found any flaws that were mentioned by some reviewers... may be i am lucky.
