Sigma's fast, wide-angle zoom lens classes up your APS-C body
10 July 2013
Summary: As long as it stays at a sub-$1,000 price, the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM lens will be a great deal for photographers using APS-C dSLRs.
Pros: The Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM lens currently occupies a unique spot as a wide-aperture zoom lens built specifically for APS-C mounts. It has a great build quality and delivers excellent photo quality.
Conclusion: Credit must be given to Sigma for taking the plunge and being the first to pull off this optical feat. Despite being a touch heavy - especially for a lens intended for smaller APS-C format D-SLRs - the 18-35mm impressed us in almost all areas of testing. So, if you're in the market for a well-built zoom that offers impressive image quality and great control for shallow depth-of-field effects, it's a great choice - provided you can stomach the £650 pricetag.
