Excerpt: I really just want to comment on my initial impressions after receiving this lens kit (lens, filter, cleaning kit) yesterday evening.

The Tiffen filter fits great and appears to be clear enough for my tastes, but I have not had a chance to check its quality yet. It WILL allow the Sigma lens cap to still fit, although it has a thread or two less compared to what the lens itself offers for a "cap biting surface".
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I normally use a standard fixed focal length lens and have several. But this lens changed my thinking. For the bulk of my work this lens will cover it and increases my working speed. The lens is super sharp. The images are far better than a couple of Nikon lenses I have. Sigma has done it, a great lens!
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I got this for my Nikon D7000 as main lens, and it does not dissapoint. Nice autofocus speed and accuracy, tack sharp images, and fast constant aperture. Wonderful event or walk-around lens. Balances well on the D7000, the only "issue" is that the focus ring tuns the opposite way than on Nikon lenses (due to Sigma also making this one for Canon).
Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Strong Construction
Summary: It ranks above Canon 17-55m...check the stats.
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Rugged, Strong Construction, Easily Interchangeable, Durable, Sharp at all focal length, Great image quality. If you need an f2.8 type lens, I highly recommend giving Sigma a look. IT ALSO COMES WITH A LENS HOOD :-) and good pouch.
