Reviews and Problems with Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 EX DG OS APO HSM

Good lens for the price
1 March 2013
Summary: Works well for what I paid for it. Not the fastest focus and fails at times to focus at all when tracking bird in flight. Sharp enough, even with a Canon 2x II extender it was equal to (or in many cases better than) the Sigma 50-500 OS.
Summary: I purchased the Sigma 120-300 f2.8 imaged stabalized lines a year ago and a month later in July 2011 my wife and two of our friends ended up in Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole. It was a dream trip.
Summary: This review is subject to being updated as necessary. I've been using this lens more or less daily for over a month, mainly as a walk-around telephoto and for some wildlife (bird) photography using the Canon EF Extender 2X III (yes, it's compatible), always handheld.
Summary: I'll start off by saying that, no, this lens isn't as sharp as the Canon 300mm f/2.8, but I'll also say that it doesn't make nearly as big of dent in your wallet plus it offers the versatility of a zoom all in one, large, heavy package.
Superb for sports if one can handle size and weight

Summary: Can't disagree more with the previous review.
I use this lens paired with Nikon D800/D810 just for sports shooting (soccer, swimming, basketball, etc.) from spectators areas, which means many tens of meters away from action.
