Excerpt: Normally fish-eye lens are an expensive addition to a photographers kit and considering that it will be used infrequently hard to justify. The Samyang 8mm is therefore very welcome. I have used the lens on my new Fujifilm X-T1 with good results. Excellent build quality. Since it does not communicate with the camera's electronics, you have to use as a manual lens, not difficult considering anything over about 8 feet away will be in focus.
Summary: This lens is sharp and fits my Fuji X-E1 perfectly, set at f/5.6 and focus set to 1 to 1 1/2 meter the camera becomes a point and shoot. I like to shoot up close so the fisheye is wonderful, it's not for all shots but shooting up close and personal it is perfect.
Excerpt: Easy to use lens. Fantastic quality. My only issue is that it's almost too flush to the camera, and my finger will sometimes enter bottom right edge of the frame. I'd give it 4 stars but the price is too good for what you end up getting. So 5 it is. The focusing ring is a bit stiff and a long way around. But fortunately because of the great optics and the wide angle you don't have to worry too much about the focus.
Excerpt: Well-built, appears to be mostly metal. Plastic hood is strong and permanent, and the lens cap fits well over the top of this hood, making storage worry-free. The lens is quite small, just slightly smaller than the x-mount Fuji 35mm F1.4. This is fully manually operated, there is no auto aperture or autofocus, but these things are easily accomplished manually when using the lens on the Fuji X-E1.
