Favorite lens for nx1000

zerobotman, B&H Photo
28 March 2014
 • Excerpt: I use this lens with my samsung nx 1000 so frequently that I haven't carried the 20-50 kit lens around since. in terms of sharpness it is pretty comparable to the kit lens and gives a good level of sharpness above f3.5 with some soft corners wide open which is generally to be expected. What makes this lens particularly good compared to the kit lens even though it is optically very comparable is the ergonomics and focusing speed.
 • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Inexpensive, Reliable
 • Cons: Bulky, Not sharp wide open

Must have lens

Carl E. Sims "BGANGA", Amazon
30 October 2013
 • Summary: This is a great lens to cut down on the bulk of the 18-55 kit lens. Images are excellent and the autofocus is quick. Very happy with my purchase.

Small, nice and accurate, but picture is not the best

vilgraf, Ebay
10 September 2013
 • Summary: Too much distortions, the picture is not the best. Kit lens make better work in this 20 mm focus. I prefer 30 mm F/2.0 lens.

Its a good lens but not any better then the kit lens

Jason E. Maiser "JM", Amazon
26 July 2013
 • Summary: Yes there is lower distortion in this lens then in the kit lens but for most people it not really worth the extra money. If you are a lens snob then you will find it to be a very decent lens.

This lens adds to the NX capabilities

J. Russo "JR", Amazon
24 June 2013
 • Summary: As a beginner photographer I found that this lens works great for indoor low light portrait situations. In many instances it obviates the need for the use of flash. In addition it slims down the camera to the point that it is quite easy and convenient to bring along to indoor family events or where portrait photography is common. Extremely satisfied with quality, easy of use, and value for the money. I recommend it.

Reasonably sharp... when in focus.

Dwegs "Dwegs", Amazon
18 June 2013
 • Summary: I have no idea if this is the fault of the camera (NX300), or the lens. However, I found that when I used it in any of the AF modes, it would not hit focus at the intended point. Without the ability to fine tune these lenses, I found this one to be out of spec IMO. That and the fact that it is only an F2.8 lens make it a 3 - 3.5 star lens to me.

Best 35mm equiv compact on the market

Zef, Adorama
5 February 2013
 • Excerpt: Sharp lens which is a great addition to the Kit lens of any NX system, currently better than any Sony lens and in the higher quality range of the m3/4 lens options.
Works good in lowlight thanks to it being in the lower Apeture range (much better than the kit lens).

The fixed lens is also good to help you learn how to use a camera without messing around with zooming, ie step forward or backward to get a bigger/smaller image.
 • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh

Replaced my kits lens, but not for video

Tom, Amazon
4 January 2013
 • Summary: I agree with the first two reviewers, this is a great quality lens with a very useful focal length. It is approximately equivalent to the kit 18-55 zoom lens when not zoomed. That together with the large sensor and 22MP of my NX200, if I really need to zoom I can just crop the picture in software. Since it is such a pancake, the camera fits into my jacket pocket - much more portable. Like another reviewer said, the 18-55 kit lens is not used much anymore.

Great lens

Digiko "Get Cam", Amazon
19 March 2012
 • Summary: This lens has been the perfect companion for my Samsung NX100 camera. Perfect focal length for take-anywhere photography. The image quality is very respectable. The focus is a bit on the slow side but not a deal breaker. Overall, great value for the money and makes photography fun.
