  • Excerpt: This standard zoom lens for Samsung NX cameras provides an angle of view equivalent to a 30-75mm lens on a 35mm camera, has a compact, collapsible design and support for Samsung's i-Function control system. It is usually available as a kit option with Samsung NX cameras, but is also available to purchase separately at around £200.

PC Magazine

  • Conclusion: The Samsung 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 ED II NX Lens is a sharp, compact zoom lens for the NX system. It's size is appealing, but the lens is fairly slow.
  • Pros: Compact. Sharp. Very little distortion.
  • Cons: Slow aperture. Plastic lens mount. Limited zoom range. Rotating front element.

Samsung NX 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 ( S2050NB ) - Review / Lab Test

  • Conclusion: We really liked the Samsung NX 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 for various reasons. Optically it is among the best standard zoom lenses in the mirrorless system class that we've seen so far. It is capable of delivering very sharp results across the focal length range even at max. aperture. There's only a little field curvature at 20mm. Typical for most standard zoom lenses it produces a heavy barrel distortion at the wide end. There is some pronounced vignetting at max.

Samsung 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 ED i-Function Lens

PhotoReview

  • Summary: An affordable, mid-range zoom lens for Samsung's NX mirrorless cameras.Samsung's 20-50mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens has been designed to be small and light and features a retractable design similar to the 14-42mm kit lens provided by Olympus with its PEN-series cameras. However, it's just over 30 grams lighter. Compared to standard kit lenses, it is narrower by 2 mm at wide angle and by 5 mm at the tele end. But it lacks built-in stabilisation. . .
  • Pros: You're looking for a light and compact, general-purpose lens for Samsung's NX cameras., You require good performance at an affordable price. Don't buy this lens if :, You need close focusing and macro capabilities., You'd like built-in image stabilisation., You want high resolution at all focal lengths, along with good flatness of field

NX 20-50 mm f/3.5-5.6 ED

  • Excerpt: Originally posted 2010-12-13 on Optyczne.pl One of the main ideas lying behind the segment of mirrorless devices are small dimensions. Without any mirror or optical viewfinder you can design relatively small cameras, hiding inside sensors as big as those of any reflex camera. Optics can become a bottleneck, though - often simply ruining any idea of a pocket-size instrument.
  • Cons: frame centre resolution at 50 mm, f/5.6 below expectations,, frame edge resolution could have been higher,, average work against bright light,, very high distortion at the shortest focal length,, average coma control at the shortest focal length,, plastic mount.
