Awesome bang for the buck!

  • Excerpt: Sharper than any of the mid-grade zooms I have. Clean, creamy backgrounds, excellent color rendition with minimal chromatic aberration thanks to the aspherical element within. A nice size for an 85 mm too.Definitely an excellent portrait lens. Not that awesome for landscapes or sports and such; incapable of macro photography. Made me much more confident about buying a manual-focus only lens (it's so manual it has an APERTURE RING, like the old lenses from way back.

  • Summary: great lens. its become a main lens that i use with my nikon d700. its not autofocuse lens which is fine as im not shooting sports. it definitely had made my pictures much better in quality for such a cheap price. i did research and checked results before buying on pixel peeper. the rokinon website has sample pictures which does not at all do it justice.

Great Lens

  • Excerpt: This is a great lens especially if you don't mind to focus manually. The pictures are razor sharp and are close to the Nikon 85mm 1.4G for a fraction of the price. The focus throw is even better than any of the G lenses I have used. For the money you cannot beat this lens. Be on the lookout for their 50mm 1.4. This is perfect for photography enthusiast that doesn't want to spend a boat load of cash on the Nikon equivalent.

  • Summary: OTAO (on time as ordered) Beautifull bokah! Now that I'm used to using a fully automatic camera, it took a little bit to learn how to use a manual lens on an automatic camera.

Solid lens, good value

  • Excerpt: Only a few comments after my very limited use of this lens so far around the city and mainly in the zoo. - It feels very well made, very solid, great balance and looks nice on the camera. - It is more compact than I expected. - Contrast gets nice underexposing a bit. - It delivers realistic colors. - Great DOF: when focusing a subject even 15-20 meters away you still get slightly blurred backgrounds, enough to better define the subject.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Handling, Shallow Dof, Sharp Wide Open
  • Cons: Mount Too Tight

I love this lens

Jonathan Q. Manning, Amazon

  • Summary: I love this lens! The bokeh circles are nice and flat, without any rings or dimples. Images look sharp, and build quality is excellent. My only complaints are the lens cap doesn't fit very well, and you have to remove the cap to take the hood on or off. For the price, this is a stellar lens.

Not a beginner lens

Render, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I bought this lens mainly for portrait work and the low f-stop. For the price, it is an amazing lens. I use this on a Canon 7D and love the depth of field compared to my Pentax 50mm and Sigma 18-35mm. My setup consists of a LCD screen magnifier eyepiece since I only shoot in live mode with this lens. I'm not sure if I can survive with trying to focus through the viewfinder. Which is why I rated it 4 stars. The lens hood is thin and feels like it would crack easily.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Professional Quality
  • Cons: Cheap Lens Cap And Hood, No autofocus
