More versatile than I expected.

Paul T., Amazon
18 August 2013
  • Summary: I understand the limitations of a lens such as this however since I cannot afford an all glass 400-500mm lens I chose to take a chance on this catadioptric lens. I had read some good reviews and studied others photos on Flickr using mirror lenses which led me to believe that if I stay within the lenses limitations I could get some good shots that otherwise I would not be able to shoot with my other lenses.

Great lens for the price

cslick, Ebay
6 December 2012
  • Summary: Great lens for the price, used during cruise in November worked perfect.Purchased for my Canon 400D but will also fit my 300D and 1000D cameras as well. Lens fits in camera bag without any trouble and came with lens caps to protect lens when not in use. Took several nice photos of Island from the ship and all were clear and crisp.

No T-Mount Adaptor for Nikon

LJ Chapman, Amazon
5 November 2012
  • Summary: Have received the item as ordered. Although advertisement states is for Nikon, lens has just arrived, but without the adaptor to make it fit a Nikon. Be warned! Will have to buy seperately, as cannot contact Amazon.com (or at least cannot find option to contact them re this order). I hope Amazon.com is reading this, and can rectify.

Review of Rokinon 500mm f8 (for Pentax)

Matt Z, Amazon
28 January 2012
  • Summary: + High power at low price. + Can be used handheld. + Usable in most outdoor lighting conditions. + Can be used with other camera brands by purchasing inexpensive adapter. + Good photo quality - Minimum focusing distance is 10 meters. - Manual focus only. - Must use manual exposure mode (at least with my camera). - 2X teleconverter is nearly useless.

Expectations

Rita Simon, Amazon
13 March 2011
  • Summary: I really did not expect much with this lens and was plesantly surprised at the quality of my shots and the light weight of the lens. this made it easy to use and carry around. with the teleconverter it really brought out the fine details that i was looking for. as with any long lens of this nature, lighting can be an issue but easily overcome by a seasoned photographer.

Not really sure

Viking Starr, Amazon
10 November 2010
  • Summary: Every time I have tried to use this lens I can never get the setting right. I would know exactly what to do in the old days when you had to use light meter. It is hard to focus in on something, even with a tripod. Glad to have memory cards instead of film. I keep trying get the settings correct by trial and error. At this point mostly error. I bought a 2x adapter for my 300mm lens and it works great. Maybe the mirror concept is throwing me off.
