Excerpt: Picked this up on a whim on ebay as it was only £15. Pleasantly surprised. It's very light, quite plasticky looking but handles fine and the autofocus is sharp on my K5ii. It's an odd sort of range which ultimately might mean it doesn't get used very much, but for portraits and street photography it could be a fun lens to use.
Excerpt: I bought this lens for around $16, not including S&H, off of eBay. Like many F and FA lenses, this design will have a hard time fitting in with an APS sensor camera due to the focal range. However, if you can make it fit then you will be rewarded with great IQ, excellent operational performance, and practical portability. I will cover this lens with a section of PROS, NEUTRAL, and CONS.
Pros: Lightweight, handling, AF, and IQ
Cons: f/4, plastic construction, and rotating front element
Excerpt: I am surprised to see a mixed reviews! I got this lens some time ago for my ME Super as I often wanted to keep my ME in a car but found that 50mm prime not always allowed me to get the shot I wanted. So I was testing it before on my DSLR's ( K10D and K-01 ) - and I am amazed at the sharpness it delivers from wide open ! This is truly a gem lens - didn't realise that this cheapo can take such a good shots! Usually we dismiss kit lenses - but with Pentax is different.
Excerpt: Got this one in a pawn (correct spelling) shop for £10, to use on a K100D body from eBay as a backup camera. For that price, it is a great find. It is effectively a standard to short tele lens on a DSLR, so not for wide shots At anything from room brightness (electric light) upwards, the autofocus snaps it into focus quickly and accurately - much better than I can, using it manually.
Pros: Sharpness; quick and accurate focus; light weight.
Excerpt: The Pentac SMC f 35-80 lens seems to get a bum rap from many reviewers on this forum and around the web. Generally, I find most reviews on this site to be pretty spot on, but some people throw out strange ratings without putting a lens through some good testing. Now I'm not saying this lens is a 10 compared to my m, k, and takumar primes, but it's a damn usable zoom lens. At least my copy is. I actually prefer it over the 18-55 SMC lens that came with my camera.
