Summary: I bought this lens to have a light weight set-up with Macro capability when hiking. Macro shots are just great but one has to have a steady hand. Lens can also be utilized for Landscape pictures which are also good in quality.
Summary: There are plenty of other lens quality reviews. They are all correct. This(along with the other Pentax Limited lenses) is an excellent quality lens. I just wanted to share that with the B+W XS Pro UV filter, which is relatively low-profile to begin with, the factory-supplied push-on lens cap will not stay on. A old Pentax factory 49mm clip-on M-lens cap will fit.
Summary: The purchasing process was flawless as expected. Delivery was on-time. The lens has performed beyond my expectations. Now to save up for a 77 mm f/1.8 Limited. Thanks, Amazon and Pentax, for another great purchasing experience.
Summary: Very, very sharp. Used with a K5IIs ie. without the AA filter. I can't compare it to anything I have done before because it is easily superior. I have used film and digital before, but this pentax kit is the best I have used. Also bought the 15mm limited lens. Sharp Macro images completely fill my screen with stunning vibrancy - this could be a subjective preference - razor sharp vs neutral, softy-but-clear sharp, like what other camera manufacturers seem to 'tune' their...
Summary: Very nice lens for walk around snapshots and macro's. Very versatile and light weight. Excellent, all metal housing, and a nice dampening feel when focusing manually. Capable very sharp photo's/macros.
Summary: I've gone sort of nuts buying Pentax lenses for my k5 and kx. I have the 10-17 Fisheye, 15mm Limited, 21mm Limited, 35 mm Macro Limited, 40 mm Limited, 70 mm Limited, 200mm DA*, 50mm Takumar m42 and just bought the 50mm f1.2 SMCA. I take a lot of events/street, flowers and nature shots. The 35mm has become one of my most used lenses, although I have become quite fond of the old 50mm Takumar too.
Summary: This has quickly become my favorite lens. It's great for macro and everyday shooting and tends to be the lens I leave on my camera as it is the most versatile. I also love how non-invasive the lens size is. The only down I can think of is the macro, it works amazingly but its focal length isn't great for something like an ant antenna.... If you're looking for that, go for one with a longer focal length.
Summary: Good bokeh. Good accurate colors. Excellent sharpness for close-ups. Not sharp for other photography that's longer than a macro range. I bought this to use as an all-purpose lens. For the price I had expected it to be good for non-macro images. It's an excellent lens for close-up portraits and macros. But it wasn't good for other photography such as landscape and photography with a bit of distance with them, such as group portraits.
