Excerpt: The FA 77 is a fine short telephoto I have found useful for landscapes, wildlife and portraits. There is a magical quality to the light captured by this lens and the contrast and colors are the most vivid of my Three Amigos (FA31, FA43 and FA77).
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Summary: This is a sharp lens and just like week Pentax Forum named Best of All Lenses. How well does it live to its expectations? Really well, unless you own a K-3 that it, in which case it's good, just not THAT good. On the K-5 family, it's a little soft wide open, like most such lenses. Once you get to F/2.8, it is very sharp and delivers the 16 MP needed by those cameras. Its focal-lengths makes for some tight portraits with really nice bokeh.
Summary: This is a lens whose reputation is best known in all of the pentax lens, outstanding optical technology, inside the focus is as sharp as the blade, and outside the focus is melt as cream, almost all of the customers of pentax want to have this lens, this is a full frame lens but it is a pity that the pentax camera didn't have a full frame camera.
The MUST HAVE portrait lens for the Pentax system ... or for people with Pentax adapters.

Summary: There are few lenses that can render images so well that people buy cameras just to use that lens or buy adapters to use that lens on other cameras ... the Pentax FA 77mm f/1.8 is one of those lenses. I used Pentax for years and when I switched to other camera systems (Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Sony) I spent money on adapters to let me use this specific lens on those other cameras just so I could keep using this lens.
Summary: I've been shooting Pentax over 5 years and struggled with the purchase of this fine lens. (Mainly because of the high cost of admission!). Really tough, parting with just under a grand for a 47mm f1.8 lens. Bought the FA 43 a few months ago. Phenomenal lens. Gorgeous colors with silky smooth transitions, just a joy. BUT, not quite wide enough...I'm a portrait shooter. I won't be selling it, but still needed something wider.. Had an FA 50.
Excerpt: i now have all 3 FA Limited lens. began with the 43mm, then the 77mm. i hesitated a long time for this 31mm. was not sure to like the size and the range. i bought it for my 50th birthday to complete my collection. i'm very happy with it. as good image quality as the 2 others, style, design and built quality even better. i use it with my K5II. it's a kit i will always keep.
Excerpt: I met a Leica factory employee who told me this lens was the sharpest ever tested in their labs, every bit the equivalent of Leica glass.........and now I believe him. This lens is sharp throughout the range and the color rendition is superb It is simply the best of all the Pentax primes, all of which are excellent.
Pros: Consistent Output, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
