Summary: I've been shooting Pentax over 5 years and struggled with the purchase of this fine lens. (Mainly because of the high cost of admission!). Really tough, parting with just under a grand for a 47mm f1.8 lens. Bought the FA 43 a few months ago. Phenomenal lens. Gorgeous colors with silky smooth transitions, just a joy. BUT, not quite wide enough...I'm a portrait shooter. I won't be selling it, but still needed something wider.. Had an FA 50.
Excerpt: I met a Leica factory employee who told me this lens was the sharpest ever tested in their labs, every bit the equivalent of Leica glass.........and now I believe him. This lens is sharp throughout the range and the color rendition is superb It is simply the best of all the Pentax primes, all of which are excellent.
Pros: Consistent Output, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
Excerpt: These are film-era lenses with screw-drive autofocus. Pretty quick but make a slight noise.

The older SMC coating is also prone to fringing wide-open in high contrast situations. Luckily there's a PP adjustment in your Pentax body to help minimize.

Quirks aside, they quite possibly capture the most stunning and vibrant photos on film or your DSLR sensor.

Which help explain their continued production and high demand.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
Summary: Superbe objectif, très lumineux, avec une focale intéressante. Attention cependant, objectif exclusif : focale fixe, autofocus pas très rapide et assez bruyant : à éviter pour les photographes qui cherchent la polyvalence.
Summary: I have used the FA 77 for a couple of years, basically since I decided I needed a faster aperture than the Pentax 70mm f/2.4 DA Limited Lens for Pentax and Samsung Digital SLR Cameras would give me. Clearly, one of the most major strengths of Pentax is the fact that they have lenses with tight construction, like the limited lenses. Metal bodies, but very light and small.
Summary: This lens gets perfect 10 for Design Build quality (smooth metal body) Sharpness Creamy bokeh What more can you ask for? If you are a Pentaxian, you owe it to yourself. Just buy it and you will find yourself smiling every time you pick up your camera.
Summary: This lens along with FA31 1.8 are like high-end jewelries. Very Very nice Bokeh and SHARPNESS Yes. it has purple fringe but it doesn't bother me at all. If you are a Pentaxian, you owe it to yourself.
Excerpt: Incredibly rich colors, detail and depth. There's an extra degree of subject separation combined with exceptional bokeh which brings your images to life.

Very fine build quality, feels great in the hands and is a joy to focus manually. Some CA is possible wide-open, but has never been an issue for me.

All three FA Limiteds are aristocrats in the Pentax lineup.
