  • Excerpt: The Pentax 35mm f/2.4 SMC DA AL features a maximum aperture of f/2.4. Coupled to a Pentax APS-C D-SLR such as the K-r, K-5 or K-7 it offers a film-equivalent focal length of 52.5mm with the 1.5x crop factor, and features a construction of six glass elements in five lens groups. It has a six-blade aperture design but unfortunately has a plastic mount at the rear that's susceptible to more wear and tear than a metal one.

SMC Pentax-DA 35mm f/2.4 AL Lens Review

5 July 2011
  • Excerpt: Traditionally, the standard lens for 35mm film cameras was the 50mm. With the advent of the APS-C sensor, the same field of view is now obtained with a lens of 35mm or thereabouts, and here we have such a lens from Pentax. The ubiquitous standard zoom covers most requirements for the beginner photographer, but clearly Pentax feel that the time is right to offer a traditional standard lens option for the digital SLR range.
  • Pros: Very high quality optics, Compact, Highly cost effective, Helps disciplined approach, Well made
  • Cons: No weather sealing, No Quick Shift, No lens hood provided

  • Excerpt: Originally posted 2011-02-28 on Optyczne.pl In times of analogue full frame the choice of standard 45-58 mm focal length lenses used to be huge and it was true for practically every available system. Most amateurs had within their reach not only lenses as fast as f/1.7-f/1.8 but also f/1.4 constructions.
  • Cons: plastic casing and mount,, noisy focusing mechanism,, noticeable vignetting.

Pentax SMC DA 35mm f/2.4 AL - Review / Lens Test

22 March 2011
  • Conclusion: The Pentax SMC DA 35mm f/2.4 AL may be a low-cost prime lens but it is actually a more than decent performer. This isn't overly surprising actually because moderately fast prime lenses tend to be a very safe bet. The lens is very sharp across the frame in the relevant aperture range with a peak around f/4. The low CAs contribute to the very high quality perception as well. The lens produces only a slight degree of barrel distortion.

  • Summary: Podsumowując, użytkownicy cyfrowych lustrzanek Pentaksa, chcący kupić tani standard, są niejako skazani na model 2.4/35.
  • Cons: obudowa i bagnet wykonane z tworzyw sztucznych,, głośna praca mechanizmu ustawiającego ostrość,, zauważalne winietowanie.
