Pentax SMC DA Star 16-50mm F2.8 ED AL (IF) SDM

PC Magazine
26 September 2009
  • Conclusion: The Pentax SMC DA Star 16-50mm F2.8 ED AL (IF) SDM is a significant quality upgrade compared with a standard 18-55mm kit lens, but it will cost you, and it's a bit soft at f/2.8.
  • Pros: Sharp from f/4 onwards. Weather sealed.
  • Cons: Expensive. Considerable distortion at 16mm. Soft wide open.

Lens Test: Pentax DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 SDM AF

Pop Photo
17 March 2009
  • Excerpt: This pro-caliber, standard-range, bright digital zoom ($1030, street) is the second Pentax to use sonic-wave autofocusing for very smooth and quiet AF. It works with newer Pentax bodies that accept the KAF2 mount. On older bodies such as the K100, it defers to the noisier, body-housed AF motor.

Pentax DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 ED AL IF SDM Review

What Digital Camera
2 January 2009
  • Summary: The most expensive of the Pentax lenses in this category 16-50mm did not always deliver everything that it promised. In particular, the f/2.8 aperture is more for bright viewing than it is for top-quality imaging.
  • Pros: Nice balance and robust feel
  • Cons: Slightly stiff and jerky zoom action

Pentax SMC DA* 16-50mm f2.8 ED AL (IF) SDM

digicambuyer.co.uk
11 August 2009
  • Conclusion: The 16-50mm is a full stop faster and a fraction sharper than the 17-70mm we tested last month. However, it feels noticeably more substantial in terms of handling and build quality, with a solid, weighty feel and impressive controls

photozone.de
1 December 2008
  • Conclusion: It is difficult to find a final verdict for the Pentax SMC DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 ED [IF] SDM. On the one hand it has some obvious problems like a weak border performance at max. aperture and very pronounced lateral chromatic aberrations (CAs).

Test af Pentax SMC DA* 16-50mm F2.8 ED AL

DIGITAL FOTO
18 October 2013
