Excerpt: Bought this lens used in almost perfect condition a few days ago so this is an early review. Also, I painstakingly adjusted the micro focus before use. On my camera it was a +6 which is pretty normal for this camera. If you don't do that for your lenses before reviewing and evaluating your lens you are selling yourself short.
Pros: Wow, very sharp. Easy to handle. Pretty fast to focus.
Cons: Not as fast as HSM/Ultrasonic motor. Usual sound of screw drive.
Excerpt: First of all this is a real DA WR lens, not a DAL that has been removed from a camera kit, be careful on other sites because they offer at similar price the less expensive kit lenses. B&H was great in delivering this fast regardless the season holidays and the lens price was very good for a great lens at this price point.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use, Improves Picture Quality
Summary: I am astounded at the quality for such a modest price. I have taken some amazing photos with this lens on my Pentax K50. The performance outshines other lenses that I've paid over twice as much for.
Summary: This lens is good for this price especialy its a wr and also its very small. Some people say its sharp at f8 - f11 but mine sometime is little soft. i was gonna return but i found the sweet spot at f4-5.6 and desided to just kept it. The quality is very good also and it focus really fast outdoor and indoor. I recommend this lens to anyone who's looking for small light zoom lens and to pair with their wr camera.
Summary: I'm a novice when it comes to cameras but since I got the Pentax K-30 I love taking pictures, My husband then got me the Da 50-200mm lens. It makes a big difference. I live in the county and can now take pictures of the wildlife with no problem of scaring them off. I'm so happy with what I can do so far I'm taking a photo class to see how much better I can really get. Having so much fun!
Summary: Fantastic lens! I have used this lens in dirt, dust, rain, and snow. It performs flawlessly. It is a fanstastic lens at this price-point. This lens has taken a beating. It has been dropped on the concrete and in the dirt...not an issue. Yes, it has flaws at max zoom as one would expect for a sub $200 lens, but in my humble opinion, its a great value and takes good pictures considering one can have it in inclement conditions!
Summary: I am a advanced hobbyist photographer. I shoot RAW and manual at all times. This lens can certainly deliver in the sharpness realm. Colors are great! (but then again, pentax always nails the colors... just saying). I have not found any distortion or fringing in any of my images. Build quality is fantastic, feels very solid. It is much smaller than I was expecting, the same size of the 18-55wr. Pleasantly surprised! Very light weight... compact... tons of zoom!
