Excerpt: i got it as kit for my K5, perhaps i was overly expecting on this lens. the image i was taken wasn't as good as with smc-m 50mm 1,7 or with Pentax-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL II. the focussing a bit slower, when non wr just snap the focus it takes about 200ms more to catch it . and it has a sof focus.
Pros: light, 18-55, WR, compact
Cons: soft focus, PF, vignetting @ 18 f 8++, a bit slow for af
Summary: Good lens for general use but vignettes and barrel distorts at 18mm. I shoot mostly landscapes so for me the barreling at wide angle is annoying. I have the 16-50mm f2.8 and that lens is much better but at 7 times the cost and much heavier.
Summary: I've owned a number of different copies of this lens over the years.
