Summary: I have several Pentax lenses that I use for their intended purposes; 100mm Macro, 77mm Prime, 300mm fixed, and several others. But this is the lens that is always on the camera body. If I see a photo op while walking or driving, this lens will capture what I see with sufficient speed and clarity, and the ability to frame almost every shot. I bought this for my K10d and it served me well. Now I am using it on my K5II and I'm loving it even more.
Summary: Great go to lens... Its relatively compact and not TOO heavy for such a long lens. Zoom creep is annoying BUT it has a lock to keep the zoom from creeping when stored in a bag or around your neck. Excellent image quality, it does it all from a decent wide angle, to portraits, to landscapes, to tele zoom. Not so great focusing in low light, and AF is a little slow.. Other than that it stays on my camera almost all the time.
Hard to find... but a must have if you can get it for a reasonable price

Summary: I was fortunate enough to buy a used copy of this lens in decent shape off of Amazon. This lens can be very hard to find because it is discontinued, but if you see it somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 or below... it's a definite must-have. One thing that struck me is how compact and lightweight this lens is compared to other superzoom lenses. It balances quite nicely on most of the Pentax bodies. Due to no focusing motor or IS...
Summary: This is a relatively low priced but versatal all-around lens. The built quality is ok and the size is small as compare to Sony 18-250mm lens. This lens is relatively sharp, but with a lot of distortion. So, it is good for land scape but not so good for shooting buildings. I'm satisfied with my lens so far.
Brilliant Pentax Super Zoom Lens – A must have for any Pentax SLR user
3 August 2011
Summary: This is a review of the SMC Pentax P DA 18-250mm Lens. This is the second one of these that I have bought. My wife has acquired the first one now that she has seen the light and is now using a Pentax K20d SLR instead of a Samsung Bridge camera, hence the need for a second for my K20d. I bought this lens from Matsuiyastore (Japan) on Ebay for about £287, and considering the superb condition that it is in and the service and delivery provided the price I paid is excellent.
Summary: The image quality of this lens is nothing short of amazing given its zoom range. It's not a prime, but if you back off of the extreme zoom ranges just a little, and keep the aperture in the sweet spot, the IQ is almost as good as my best prime lenses. I'm loving this lens.
A good walk--around lens when you have limited carrying room.

Summary: Excellent walk-around lens covering a very broad focal length. A little slow to focus and a bit noisy while doing that, but overall, I have no complaints. Still new, so still not creeping, but the zoom lock is good while walking.
Summary: I was torn between this and the Tamron, but decided to spend the extra money for Pentax glass and I am very glad I did! Right out of the box I took this and my K7 to a St. Patrick's Day Parade. Portrait shots, shots of parades, available light indoor shots, all came out in wonderful sharp focus and vivid colors. Brokeh was excellent! I heartily recommend this lens and think Pentax discontinued manufacture because it was proving too popular!

Summary: I bought this to replace 3 lenses - my DA 18-55, DA 50-200 , and a Tamron 28-300. This lens covers most of the range of those lenses, but in a single lens. In the 18-200 range, it is every bit as good as the separate DA lenses, but lighter and much convenient. I wish this lens went all the way to 300mm, but 250mm is still great.
