Excerpt: This Focal length is ideal for the kind of photos that I take which is why I purchased it. Now I may have gotten a bad one but it's auto focusing has never been satisfactory and then the motor died. I have used the lens on K20 and K5II bodies with the same results. ......
Excerpt: Let me start by saying I'm a big Pentax fan. I've owned 3 camera bodies and own 7 different Pentax lenses. Great equipment but the SDM motors on these lenses have been an utter failure. The fanboys and Pentax PR people will tell you the issue has been fixed but don't believe it. The SDM motor on my fairly new 17-70 lasted barely over a year and now it's been sent off for repair. Great images yes, but if I can't use it because it's broke what good is it?
Excerpt: I bought this to replace my Sigma 18-200 as a general purpose zoom, but I'am disappointed in the optical performance in the 18-70 mm .The front block of lenses has a free wheeling more than in 4 mm and deviates easily a lens axis extensively. Not correct focusing, bad sharpness/
