  • Pros: Very small. Crisp touch-screen LCD. Hinged flash. Snappy performer. 5fps continuous shooting. Clean images through ISO 1600. 1/16,000-second electronic shutter. Sharp, compact kit lens. Raw shooting support. Wi-Fi.
  • Cons: Fixed screen with no EVF option. Lacks accessory shoe or mic input. Compressed control layout. Kit lens lacks manual focus ring. Limited burst shooting in Raw.

  • Excerpt: The Panasonic-G X VARIO PZ 14–42 mm f/3.5–5.6 ASPH. P.O.I.S. is a new „kit” lens produced by Panasonic and a quite specific construction at the same time. Its creation was based on two main assumptions. The first one concerns the dimensions. The idea its constructors were motivated by is to offer the Micro 4/3 users a “kit” lens which dimensions are similar or just slightly bigger than those of small fixed focal lenses.
  • Cons: weak image quality on the edge of the frame at the longest focal length,, very high lateral chromatic aberration at the shortest focal length,, high distortion on both focal extremes,, significant vignetting,, weak performance against bright light.

  • Summary: The Panasonic 14-42 mm is primarily sold as a kit lens. Few users will be dissatisfied with the optical qualities of this lens. You can already take surprisingly good shots in terms of image quality with this lens. Simple instructions for the Panasonic 14-42 mm: put the lens on aperture choice, choose aperture 5.6 and try to avoid the highest focal length. Do not forget to turn on image stabilization if you are not using a tripod.
  • Pros: Good optical performances, especially on resolution at focal lengths under the 25 mm, Image stabilization, Cheap, especially as kit lens
  • Cons: No switch on the lens for image stabilization, Sensitive to flare at 14 mm, Moderate performances on chromatic aberration

  • Summary: The Panasonic 14-42 mm X powerzoom is, given its size and weight, an unique interchangeable zoom lens. Focusing and zooming takes place through levers on the lens. Those who are used to using a compact or video camera might find this familiar. When you're used to a SLR type camera, you will need some time to get accustomed.
  • Pros: Good optical performance, especially for resolution at focal lengths beneath 25 mm, Very compact, Built in Image Stabilization, Powerzoom (especially for video)

  • Summary: Wymienione przez nas trzy rzeczy mogą być poważnymi atutami. Gdy posiadamy już jakiegoś bezlusterkowca systemu Mikro 4/3 i chcemy dokupić sam obiektyw, musimy liczyć się jednak z wydatkiem prawie 1500 zł. To sporo, jak na własności optyczne jakie dostajemy. Gdy jednak chcemy kupić zestaw aparat plus obiektyw, różnica pomiędzy zwykłym „kitem” a testowanym tutaj modelem zaczyna wynosić na poziomie małych kilkuset złotych.
  • Pros: mała, kompaktowa i zwarta obudowa z metalowym bagnetem,, bardzo dobra jakość obrazu w centrum kadru,, znikoma podłużna aberracja chromatyczna,, umiarkowana poprzeczna aberracja chromatyczna na dłuższych ogniskowych,, dobrze kontrolowana koma,, niewielki astygmatyzm,, sprawny i szybki autofokus,, skuteczna stabilizacja obrazu.
  • Cons: słaba jakość obrazu na brzegu kadru dla najdłuższej ogniskowej,, bardzo duża poprzeczna aberracja chromatyczna na najkrótszej ogniskowej,, duża dystorsja na krańcach ogniskowych,, spore winietowanie,, słaba praca pod ostre światło.
