Another must have

 • Excerpt: I carry this in my camera bag always, because you never know when you need to reach out for a shot. It takes great pictures at all focal lengths and is light weight and compact. It could be a little faster but with the stabilization inboard, it remains very, very useful. I also like the fact that it didn't cost an arm and a leg to acquire it.
 • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh

Nice coplement to kit lens

Clay, B&H Photo
22 February 2014
 • Excerpt: I use this for travel, family events and around town. The focal length picks up where the kit lens leaves off, and goes out to the point that some wildlife photography is possible.

I don't often print pictures - the most stringent test they're going to get is being displayed on a TV screen. It fills that purpose very nicely. It's sharp, light, and focuses quickly. Obviously it's not the fastest lens ever, but it might be the best overall at this price point.
 • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
 • Cons: Poor in Low Light

Best with support

 • Excerpt: Using this lens outdoors it almost always needs solid support or bracing. I've only just started using it. At the 60-80 marks it's decent for portraits, focuses quickly and is agreeably sharp. It's a bit big but not too huge to comfortably carry although I'm not sure I'll be taking it along without a tripod. The price point is excellent.
 • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus
 • Cons: Poor in Low Light

Very good zoom -sharp images on distance

16 November 2013
 • Excerpt: Underestimated zoom from Panasonic - images are clean and Sharp from long distances, Product is better than the skill of most unprofessional photografers. Tripod- or steady freehand shots are sharp and crisp. Works fine also on Olympus cameras.
 • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction

Excellent Value in a Long Zoom

mgsmith, B&H Photo
9 August 2013
 • Excerpt: The Micro 4/3 format offers a limited selection of lenses. This Panasonic offers 50mm more reach than the similarly priced competition for just a few dollars more. And it's performed very well so far.I'm using it on an Olympus E-PM1, and it performs nicely. It's sharp and bright, zooms smoothly and feels solid - like a well-built lens should.Like most Micro 4/3 lenses, this is no speed demon, but when I want to shoot with something light and compact, it's a great combo...
 • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Smooth Zoom
 • Cons: Poor in Low Light

can't beat the price/performance ratio

 • Excerpt: At one tenth the cost {!!!} and considerably less size and weight than the 80-400 I have used with my SLR kit, the images it provides are surprisingly good. Be sure to use a shutter speed about 3x the focal length (yes, I know everyone says about 2x but I think you will be surprised at the increase in sharpness if you bump up the shutter speed).

Nice zoom lens for MFT cams

Michael, B&H Photo
18 July 2013
 • Excerpt: Great value for the $ considering Panasonic's video optimized lenses of similar focal length are around $1,300. The zoom is great and the lens is well made. Great to have stabilization too. The image could be a bit sharper though & it can be a little slow to focus at times. Overall nice glass though that I'd recommend.
 • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Strong Construction
 • Cons: Blurry Focus, Slow Focus
