Excerpt: I can hardly fault this lens. Its sharp except in the very corners where there is a hint of softness wide open. It focuses fast and accurately, the colours are pleasant, CA is there but is a small fraction of what you would expect to see, the micro-contrast is excellent and there macro contrast has a good balance. For the price point, this lens represents excellent value for money. Compared to the Olympus 14-42 11 R which I owned briefly, there is no comparison.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
Excerpt: This lens is FAR superior to the 14-42mm "kit" lens now supplied with Panasonic Lumix cameras. I was giving my Grandson my Lumix GX1 to start him off and needed a lens for it. I tried an very clean Lumix 14-42mm but the zoom action was so sticky & jerky it was almost unusable even for stills.

On my own cameras I replaced the 14-42 I had with one of these Lumix 14-45mm and those (being metal construction rather than plastic) are much smoother.
Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable, Smooth Zoom Action
Excerpt: In the short time I have had the 14-45 lens, I have taken quite a few photos of various subjects and under different light conditions. The color and detail never cease to amaze me. The lens is on a Panasonic G5 and they seem to be an excellent match up. After reading some reviews that said the lens did not do well under low light situations, I am pleased and a bit surprised the results are not bad at all.
Pros: Bottom Line Great Result, Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Excerpt: Got the 14-42 as a kit with Lumix G5. Always felt something is lacking in picture quality when compared to shots thru the Lumi 20. Debated about getting pretty well the same lens with the 14-45. IT'S NOT THE SAME LENS ! Made in Japan, much smoother zoom (still not as slick as the new 45-150), metal mount.... Do real justice to the wonderful G5. Only problem now....what to do with the 14-42..
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Good Construction, Handy Switch For Ois, Lightweight
Excerpt: Multiple user field reports and standard lens tests confirm that this is a very fine kit zoom if you can put up with the inevitably slow (and variable) maximum apertures that come with such lenses. Its a great general purpose lens. (Shallow depth of field and "nice bokeh" generally isn't too important to me and besides I have other lenses for those effects.
Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Very good Image Quality
