Cheap

Spanky, Panasonic
24 August 2014
  • Summary: I bought this lens because I needed something wide. It still not as wide as I would like. The build quality is nowhere near that of the HD lenses. It's plastic with a sticky zoom.
  • Pros: Inexpensive, Compact, Convenient
  • Cons: Did not meet expectations, Poor quality

Viable within its limitations

  • Excerpt: I tested with Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. The OIS worked well because it has the switch on the camera for compatibility. The issues were some slight distortion on edges. The lens isn't fast and it's not constant aperture so on the Telephoto end it's only f5.6 which is slow. It's OK for a budget lens but i finally opted for the 12-35 f2.8 constant aperture lens for what I needed. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent budget kit lens. It's fairly small and light as well.
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
  • Cons: Poor in Low Light, Some distortion on edges, Very Slow On Telephoto

Does this lense work with Panosonic Lumix DMC- GF3? there is no clear indication?

  • Summary: Does this lens work with Lumix GF3 perfectly? there is no clear indication? Other lens has a box under it so you can input the camera type to be sure what you buy is useable for your Panasonic Lumix GF3 but this does not have that box to help you. Please answer ? What does H-FSD14045 means? Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 14-45mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S.

Slight upgrade from original kit lens

17 January 2013
  • Excerpt: My original kit lens got a moisture issue and needed to replace without breaking the bank. This lens has a better workmanship and also the MEGA OIS is on the outside. Putting the two lens side by side show different lens action and smooth operation. Unfortunately the moisture can affect this lens too. Unless upgrading to X series that are sealed, this provides nice shots.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
  • Cons: Not Sealed

  • Excerpt: Don't know why everyone has given this lens such high marks - on the GX-1 performance is far from great. In fact, not very sharp focus, lots of variance and also slower AF than I had thought it would be. Also, this lens is just a tad heavier than the new 45-175X, so the 14-45 is the largest/heaviest lens in my M43 kit.I will be selling on Amazon and sticking with the primes, including a new Sigma 30mm f2.8, which consistently gives very sharp IQ, no need for...
  • Cons: Heavy bulky

Loud Lens but Nice Image for Price

Dalton, B&H Photo
20 February 2011
  • Excerpt: I use this lens to shoot documentaries and commercials. The price is right for the image quality, thought it might be wise to invest in a nicer, more expensive lens - too bad they don't make many that fit the ag-af100 micro 4/3rds. The lens is also rather loud! Not the best for zooming or documentaries. Not a good low-light lens, obviously. It is pretty wide though and that's nice!
  • Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use, Improves Picture Quality, Interfaces Well With Camcorder
  • Cons: Bad low light, Loud
