Summary: I recently purchased this lens for my new Oly E-M5II camera. Its intended use is mostly bird photography, the shore birds along the Long Island Sound where I live and my personal friends at my garden feeders.
Summary: This lens is great for what it is, which is a superzoom lens on a budget. Personally, I wish there were a faster lens available for Panasonic micro 4/3 cameras that had autofocus and image stabilization, particularly because this is the lens I use most and I am unable to manually focus due to...
Summary: This is a big and wonderful lens. Somewhat heavy, but it takes outstanding photos, with great resolution and other technical qualities I am barely capable of discussing intelligently. Since it fits a 4/3 format camera (mine is a Panasonic DMC G5), its effective resolution is double that listed.
Excerpt: I have the Olympus 40-150mm F2.8 and the Lumix 100-300mm to me is just as good optically, only behind the high dollar Oly in weather sealing and of course speed (f4 versus F2.8). The Olympus has has the genius hood design but the Lumix 100-300 was the shock of the year lens wise for me.
Excerpt: My new Panasonic Lumix 100-300 lens has arrived, and I have tried it out from my balconny overlooking the Boston harbour. I love it, and am looking forward to go with a bus through Portugal and Spain in May! As usual it is a pleasure to shop from B&H. My stuff always arrives before I expect it too!
Excerpt: I use this lens for birding. The photos are from a nature preserve near Pawleys Island, SC. It is serious in length and weight. But the same lens in a Canon L series would be over 10k in price.
Excerpt: I haven't had this lens very long yet, but I've used it to take photos of dogs playing in the backyard and a football game and it did well at both of those tasks. I plan to use it to take pictures of birds and other wildlife when I get the chance.
