Lens Supreme

C. Smith, Amazon
21 January 2015
  • Summary: If you're one of those people who is going to compare and contrast for days in order to decide on what lens you should buy stop. I've already done that for you. According DXOmark, a site dedicated to testing cameras and lenses, scientifically the 25mm f1.4 is the 3rd highest rated for the mirco 4/3 format. It ranks just below the Olympus 75mm f1.8 (cost $400 more) and the Panasonic Leica 42.5mm f1.2 (cost $1,000 more). Science not enough of a reason to buy this?

Great newbie photographers who like to shoot at night time but don't like to use flash

Alan, Amazon
10 January 2015
  • Summary: My favorite lens. I travel a lot and my use-case is shooting friends at the beach at daytime and sunset, cities at nights (including inside bars/clubs), and food I eat (I'm Asian) and art at museum. I hate using flash, so this lens is perfect for me. If you're a newb when it comes to photography (like me), you do have to use your feet to zoom in and out. I'm uploading a few pictures that had no special light set-up, no photoshop, and probably while drunk.

Yes, get this lens, it IS magic after all.

Mina Carson, Amazon
24 August 2014
  • Summary: Weirdly, the first time I took this for a spin I decided that it wasn't magic (my criterion for a great lens). The magic lenses I currently own are the Canon 50mm f/1.4, the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7, and the Olympus 45mm f/1.8. The one that is shockingly good and deserves to be called magic is the Sigma 60 f/2.8, but that's a story for another day. I'm not sure what didn't go right with those first photos -- operator error? Heavens, never! Nothing wrong, just not special.

Amazingly Clear and Crisp

Nicholas Toth, Amazon
11 February 2014
  • Summary: I have been using this lens for almost a year and the clarity and details that it picks up are second-to-none. I have it coupled with an Olympus E-M5 and whether I'm shooting volleyball matches indoor, city scenes, or the milky way at night, this lens sets itself apart with brilliant optics.

Hey, it's a Leica,

Fred Forbes "Fred Forbes", Amazon
2 February 2014
  • Summary: Hardly much more need be said. Sharp and clear with great contrast. This is a wonderful lens for low light and "regular" eyeball field of view. Great for candids. A tad pricey, but given the results, well worth it. I do miss the capability of framing with a zoom lens as this as to be done with a bit of positioning but not a bad tradeoff.

The best 50mm equivalent lens I have every used!

DigitalDave "ArtBoy", Amazon
20 January 2014
  • Summary: Hands down this is my favorite lens I own right now. Color rendering and sharpness is superb. The f1.4 aperture gives this lens the speed needed for low light shooting as well as wonderful creamy bokeh. This lens is almost permanently attached to my camera besides the O17 f1.8 and the 12-40mm pro. Looking through my favorite shots over the past month since I owned this lens. more than 40% of them are with this lens. And I take a lot of shots.

I like my steak rare and my video images next-to-perfect

RalphB, Amazon
12 January 2014
  • Summary: You're not going to get any science or whacko spec talk here. It's not helpful. Put this lens on a Panasonic GH3 body and be prepared to look at video you can't buy for three times the price. I only know this lens with the above mentioned camera. This married couple produces love and synergy. One plus one equals five. Truly a remarkable lens. It's pricey though. Worth it? Not only yes, but heck yes.

Sharp and Great for general use

Shaun TM, Amazon
21 November 2013
  • Summary: Great lens! I am a novice camera user and do not even know all the camera jargon. I just like really sharp pictures in a decent camera body that has a decent auto mode that are bright and colorful and look like they pop out of the monitor or off the paper when printing, pretty simple, you just know when a picture looks its best. I have the GF5, started with the kit lens, i was moderately happy with it going from better point and shoots or phones.

Good Lens for Video

Brian D Elliott, Amazon
5 November 2013
  • Summary: I recently switched from camcorders into the world of mirrorless cameras with my Panasonic GH3, and I wanted a fast lens for it that was pretty wide for a video project I'm currently shooting. This baby is perfect. It's 50mm equivalent focal length is a perfect all purpose sort of lens. The bokeh is beautiful, and the image quality is phenomenal.
