Great lens

13 April 2015
  • Excerpt: Several years ago I compared this lens head-to-head against expensive Canon and Nikon lenses, and this one won hands down for clarity. There may be another optical characteristic or so that I didn't look for, but clarity is far more important to me than any other.
  • Pros: Amazing Clarity, Continuous Focus, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable
  • Cons: Slow F35-f56

Fine basic lens

  • Excerpt: Using the lens on my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Focus is good throughout the zoom range. Zoom ring is a bit stiff for video. A good placeholder while saving up for nicer glass. Size and weight are good for run & gun handheld use.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable
  • Cons: Stiff Zoom Ring

  • Excerpt: I bought this as my initial lenses to hold down my start expenses with my new GH4. It works very well, and appears to be well made. With f3.5 the lenses does not do low light well. However, it works fine as part of my three lenses outfit, as I also have the Lumix 45-175mm, and the Lumix 20mm f1.7-16...

  • Excerpt: Used this for my BMPCC. Just recently purchased my BMPCC and needed a lens to play with. This lens does the job well. Of course it's not the best but for a starter like myself, this lens fits right in. If not willing to spend too much but you still want good shots.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight, Reliable
  • Cons: Not Durable

  • Excerpt: I bought this lens for my GH4, simply because I didn't what to spend too much on a camera I wasn't familiar with. I thought It would a "good enough" lens to test my GH4 instead of spending big money on lenses on a camera I don't want anymore.
  • Pros: Durable, Inexpensive, Lightweight, Reliable
  • Cons: Slow Lens

You get what you pay for

Video Producer, B&H Photo
19 January 2015
  • Excerpt: It's a good, cheap lens. Sure it's slow but...you get what you pay for. I bought it mostly to have *something* with image stabilization on my GH4. All my other lenses are Canon and I'm using a "dumb adapter" (no need for the Speedbooster yet). The lens is very lightweight.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight
  • Cons: Poor in low light

  • Excerpt: Great to start, but materials are a bit cheap. Cost is commensurate with quality, but works well.
