  • Excerpt: Sporting a very minimalist look, the lens is designed for the Micro Four Thirds mount of Panasonic's Lumix G range and while at 8mm it may appear to have a wide coverage, it's worth remembering that the Micro Four Thirds format has a crop factor of 2x, making this a 16mm full-frame equivalent (with a 180º view). The lens‘˜s construction is mainly plastic to lighten the weight but it balances well when attached to Panasonic's G-series cameras, such as the Lumix G3.

  • Excerpt: This diagonal fisheye lens provides a 180 degree angle of view from corner to corner when used with a Micro Four Thirds camera body. As this lens is designed especially for the Micro Four Thirds system is is very compact and can be picked up for around £600. It is currently the only diagonal fisheye lens dedicated to the Micro Four Thirds system.
  • Pros: Excellent sharpness from maximum aperture, Good build quality, Fast focusing, Compact size
  • Cons: Flare with sun in the frame

Panasonic Lumix G Fisheye 8mm f/3.5 (H-F008) Lens

PhotoReview
1 January 2011
  • Summary: A lens with a peripherally distorted, ultra-wide angle of view for Micro Four Thirds System cameras.People are often intrigued by anything that changes the way they view subjects, which accounts for some of the popularity of fisheye lenses. Panasonic's Lumix G Fisheye 8mm f/3.5 lens, which was announced in June, is the first (and, so far, only) fisheye lens for Micro Four Thirds System cameras.
  • Pros: You really want the novel perspective a fisheye lens provides., You shoot plenty of close-to-the-action videos. Don't buy this lens if :, You require high image quality across the aperture range of the lens. IMATEST GRAPHS (based on JPEG images from the DMC-GF2)
