lightweight zoom lens

Diane M. Fiedler, Amazon
11 August 2010
  • Summary: Because I goofed, this is the second lens like this I have purchased. I really like the lens used on an Olympus E-volt camera. Relatively speaking, it is lightweight and easy to carry for the unexpected photo of wild game/birds I encounter when hiking.

4 1/2 Stars -- A Highly Versatile, High Quality Long-Range Zoom Lens!

bobbewig, Amazon
13 April 2010
  • Summary: This relatively lightweight lens is top-notch in delivering high quality images with little-to-no distortion throughout its 70-300mm (really 140-600mm) focal lenths when taking outdoor shots. Indoors, images are also sharp but autofocusing is somewhat slow in low light conditions.

Good Lens

Anonymous, Newegg
27 February 2010
  • Summary: Using lens on an E510. Good lens, was concerned about how slow it was to focus and zoom until I updated the E510 firmware for the 150mm lens, after that zoomand focus were much faster, roughly equivalent to the Canon 250mm lens we use on a Canon XS.
  • Pros: Decent priced lens
  • Cons: None

good lens at this price

Wei C., Newegg
15 December 2009
  • Summary: It's a usable long distance lens. With this price, it performs well when lighting is adequate. I can't ask more, cause that will be called greedy...
  • Pros: low price, i bought it in a deal that it only cost me 335 after tax. And i got this 70-300mm lens which is 140-600mm equivalent. Very useful for long distance shooting
  • Cons: The aperture is from 1/4, it hardly can be used when light is not enough, like indoor situation. It also can't get auto focus in a Inadequate lighting environment. And the image is not that sharpen, either.

  • Summary: I'm relatively new to dslrs having purchased the E 510 about 3 months ago and the 70 300 two months ago. My first impression was after using a bridge camera this was rather bulky. However after using it for a couple weeks I found it to be a fairly nice carry around combination.
  • Pros: Best bang for the buck. No one sells anything close to this for this money., Fairly fast in good light., Sturdy build., Compact for a 140 600 mm lens., Very sharp, not great IQ but very good.
  • Cons: Performs poorly in low light, constantly searching for subject.

Zeico Olympus 70-300 zoom lens

Kindle Customer "woodturner wedum", Amazon
20 July 2008
  • Summary: A good, not excellent lens. It requires a high ISO to be used in low light. Otherwise, very satisfactory for close-up long lens at a great price. Would be nice to have IS built into the lens as they are in Canon.
