Summary: I did not like this lens at all. I don't know if it was a manufacturing defect or that is just how the lens is produced. First, the lens did not fit properly against the camera mount. It was loose and would shift when zooming. Yes, I understand that sometimes there is a little give, but this was extreme and I was concerned over time it would cause damage to the camera body, it was noisy as well.
Excerpt: The screw heads that hold the flimsy mount ring are too small and pull right through the plastic with moderate torque, which is what happened to me. They could have solved this with some [$]cent titanium washers, but overall it's a very poor design and they charge[$]repair costs to further capitalize on their design faux pas.
Summary: Yes it is light, and yes it takes acceptable pictures. Mine did just that for about 5 months. Then the other day I noticed the lens was hanging at a 30 degree angle from the camera body. On closer inspection I see that the lens is held to the camera body with a thin plastic ring that is attached with 4 small recessed screws.
Summary: Bought this lens as part of a package with an Olympus E-Pl1 Pen camera and standard lens. Everything worked really well for about six months when the larger lens started jamming without having suffered any physical knocks or other ill treatment. I didn't feel comfortable wading through the return process from the original supplier and have opted to spend £25 to get my local Jessops to look at it.
