Summary: I haven't had much of a chance to use this lens yet. The few opportunities I've had though show the lens to be a good performer. I like the electric zoom feature. Focus is good throughout the range of the zoom. When the camera is off, the lens shrinks down to a 'pancake size' and fits easily into my small camera bag. I'm using it on an Oly 5. Along with the lens, I purchased the Olympus LC-37C lens cap. This is neat. When the camera's turned on, the cap opens up.
The lens itself functions better than I expected for a kit lens

Summary: I got the Import model in silver. Came in a totally nondescript box but it was very well bubble wrapped and for all intents it works. It was missing the little plastic protective sticker that most lens caps ship with but seeing as most folks discard that within 2.8 secs of opening it really wasnt missed. No scratches or signs of wear. The lens itself functions better than I expected for a kit lens. But also doesn't hold a candle to a good prime.
Summary: The service through Amazon was great as always. As far as the lens goes, i love the convenience and for that it's stayed on my camera almost exclusively but i do wish it were a little sharper.
Summary: When me and the missus purchased the Olympus E-PL7, we were offered the standard lens kit which was a tad bulky. Instead we paid the extra and got this lens instead. It is extremey light (as with most CSC lens) and very easy to fit a UV filter onto the lens. It's pancake form is perfect so the camera can fit into some pockets. First shots show that daylight images are very good - I would even go far and say it outperformed by Canon DSLR's 18-55 lens but not by much.
Summary: I do a lot of street photography and Olympus is one of the cameras I use. I have an OMD-EM5 in black which came with the kit lens being a 12-50mm zoom. Nice lens especially the macro facility but it is no inconspicuous being on the long side. Now I have this 14-42 lens I am a much happier chappie.
Summary: Beautifully made , delightfully compact and with a fantastic auto lenscap there is much to like until you analyse the results. I've tried two samples now and although the performance will please the happy snapper brigade it won't cut the mustard with serious amateurs. Limit print size to A4 and it's fine but I'm looking to print at 20x30 inches and this is not the lens to use.Try to find some Full Size samples on the web to see for yourself.
Summary: I am a recent convert to a CSC camera coming from a semi-pro DSLR. This is a great little lens for travel which was my primary purpose for it. I have an OM-D E-M1 with a 12-40 f2.8 Pro lens on most of the time which is just a bit big for snapping on days out. As a comparison to the 12-40 f2.8 this lens is relatively soft focus-wise and lacks some contrast, especially indoors.
