Great little lens

  • Summary: This lens doesn't get a lot of respect, especially when compared to the legendary Panasonic 20mm/1.7. Even so, it's probably on my EM-5 90% of the time. For me the 35mm equivalent focal length is the perfect size for street and indoor photography, I found the 20mm Panasonic (40mm equivalent) focal...

This lens suits me perfectly.

  • Summary: I know that the F1.8 is regarded as a better lens, but it costs half as much again and it is 1 cm wider. I wanted a slim lens so that the E-M1 would still slip into my briefcase.

Under rated Gem.

  • Summary: This lens is beautifully constructed and has nice and sturdy metal mount, with very good image quality. The lens balances beautifully with Micro Four Thirds camera and it is a joy to use. This lens got many beatings on online review forums, but in real life the image quality is top notch.

great travel lens

Michael, olympusamerica.com

  • Summary: I use this along with an OMD EM5 as my travel kit. Because the lens is so small I find the camera and lens combo fits in my jacket pocket, and even barely squeezes into my cargo shorts. It's convenient to go without a bag when traveling.

Was on my E-PL1 for 4 years straight

Hank, olympusamerica.com
2 July 2013
  • Summary: When I put together my first m4/3 kit, I was hunting for a decent pancake prime to keep the size down. I ended up with an E-PL1, and found a great deal on this 17mm f/2.8. I kept hearing about how the lens was soft, and how the equivalent of 17mm on a kit lens (at about f/3.5) was about as good if...

Great lens! Good price!

jake, olympusamerica.com

  • Summary: Bought this lens a few years ago and it stays on my camera all the time! Really like how sharp it is, and how quickly it focuses. It also gives a surprising bokeh for a 2.8 lens!
