  • Conclusion: The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f1.8 is a fast wide-angle lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras. It's extremely sharp, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
  • Pros: Very sharp. Fast aperture. Compact. Manual focus clutch system. Virtually no barrel distortion.

  • Excerpt: On the Olympus E-PL5 body we used for this test, the lens focused quickly and quietly. AF speeds were really fast, with the lens locking on to the subject almost instantly in most cases. Focusing is fully internal, meaning the length of the lens barrel does not change and the filter thread does not rotate on focus. This is very good news to those who plan on using polarisers or graduated neutral density filters on this lens with any regularity.

LensTip.com
20 November 2012
  • Excerpt: During the Photokina 2012 fair Olympus officially presented several new lenses and announced they had been working on a 17 mm f/1.8 model. It seems designing and producing it was easy because already on the 15 November, less than two months after the fair, that lens was officially launched. What’s more, with that launch several editorial offices got the final specimens of that lens which made it possible to publish sample shots and performing first tests pretty quickly.
  • Cons: very high distortion,, significant vignetting,, huge astigmatism, visible up to f/5.6 aperture,, modest accessory kit.

  • Summary: Ismét egy retro külsejű, profi Mikro Négyharmados objektív, a korábban bemutatott 12mm-es Olympus hasonmása.

fotopolis.pl
17 March 2013
  • Summary: szkło premium w ofercie Olympusa. Producent stara się zaspokoić potrzeby najbardziej wymagających konsumentów. W jego ofercie znajdziemy oprócz opisywanego tutaj ekwiwalentu 34mm trzy inne jasne "stałki" - odpowiedniki 24mm, 90mm i 150mm. Brakuje tylko odpowiednika, klasycznego, standardowego obiektywu. Nowa propozycja Olympusa jest świetnie wykonana.
  • Pros: + jakość wykonania, + metalowa obudowa, + szybki i skuteczny autofokus, + rozdzielczość obrazu w centrum, + skuteczne powłoki antyrefleksyjne, + pierścień AF/MF
  • Cons: - przeciętny poziom aberracji chromatycznej, - wyraźna dystorsja, - wyraźne winietowanie, - brak czarnej wersji obiektywu
