Designed primarily for professional use, the TC-17E is for use with f/2.8 super teles and f/2.8 tele zooms. It is not recommended for use with lenses which are slower than f/2.8 since the lens aperture won’t be fast enough for the AF systems satisfaction.

The optics in the TC-17E are comprised of 7 elements in 4 groups, each of which are multicoated.

The Nikon TC-17E is an 1.7x teleconverter, not a normal lens. You lose 1.5 stops of light and get 1.7x focal length.
