I would recommend this.

  • Excerpt: Yes its a great lens but if you really want a 50mm just go for the nikon 50 1.8 auto focus. Yes event though theres a F stop difference the newer 50 is sharper and has a better contrast ratio and also does not have as much color aberrations.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Lens Creep, Slow Focus

Great lens

Boatbuilder, B&H Photo
8 January 2013
  • Excerpt: I've used this lens for landscapes on my D7000 and more recently the D800e. Due to focus shift you must use Live View to achieve maximum sharpness at infinity, especially on the D800e. At f5.6-11 it is as sharp or sharper than any lens I own, including a couple of Zeiss. Highly recommended.
  • Pros: Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Sharp, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Focus shift

Naty, B&H Photo
5 April 2012
  • Excerpt: Its a great lens and the color is great from what I could use. Sadly I didn't realize it was incompatible with my D90 for some features on it. Otherwise it would have been a great lens.
  • Pros: Compact, Great Picture Quality

  • Summary: This lens is a must for taking indoor shots without flash.Good portrait and general photo lens.High quality metal construction unlike the cheap plastic AF lenses made today.Nikon should add the 180mm f/2.8 ed manual focus ais to their lineup.

Great standard manual focus Nikkor lens

Doctor, B&H Photo
16 October 2011
  • Excerpt: This is an amazing manual focus lens. I use it with the FM3A camera. The sharpness is excellent, the contrast is wonderful but the thing you can't find anymore on lenses is the quality. All metal construction, creamy soft focus ring, very small and light.
  • Pros: Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
