  • Excerpt: This lens is unlike any other Nikon lens I have used in the past. Apart from being a beautiful piece of metal and glass, this lens produces images that are unique and blur the line between photographs and paintings.

World class 50mm lens

Jlee , Nikon
8 December 2015
  • Summary: Amazing low light performance, ultra sharp, and incredible built quality!See it for yourself. In terms of built quality, this lens surpasses everything I tried. I own German glasses.Image quality is amazing! As to the low light performance, you will have to see it.

Only the mechanical construction is vintage.

Coronet Blue, Amazon
2 September 2015
  • Summary: This is not a vintage lens, but it is a vintage optical design with the benefit of modern coatings. Why would you want anything less than the most up-to-date optical design? Because this lens produces effects you can't get with more modern optics.

Brilliant Low Light Monster!

PhotographerMD , Nikon
18 August 2015
  • Summary: I absolutely adore this lens! at 1.2 is it razor sharp at its focus point but has a buttery smooth fall off, thats accompanied by beautiful Bokeh! It looks absolutely beautiful on the Old Nikon Film cameras, such as the Nikon F3HP.

Puff-Davey, Adorama
23 July 2015
  • Excerpt: I love this lens. It's fabulously sharp and at F1.2 the shallow depth of field effect is just what I had hoped for! It is now an essential part of my FM2 setup. I have also used it with my D610 just to get an immediate idea of what it can and can't do and that was all I needed to prove it's worth!

Learn Manual Focusing Technique

Carl M. Flarity, Amazon
7 June 2015
  • Summary: I own Nikon 50mm f1.8 AF, f1.4 AF, f1.8 AIs, as well as this 50mm f1.2 AIs. From my testing, the image quality of all these lenses are virtually identical from f2.0 to f16. They're very good at f2.0 and excellent from f2.8 to f16. Both f1.4 and f1.2 show effects of spherical aberration wide open.

2) but I absolutely love using it

Keisha Brewer, Amazon
20 February 2015
  • Summary: This lens is extremely hard to work with because it is manual focus and has such a low f stop (1.2) but I absolutely love using it! It works magic with photos! Just got to work on manual focusing!

A Very Interesting Lens

TyCoop, Amazon
6 February 2015
  • Summary: This is a bit of a quirky lens, in a good way...in that if you learn to get a feel for what it does (and doesn't do), you will get some great results. It's absolutely NOT a lens that produces consistent results through its aperture range. One shot at f/1.2 and you'll see what I mean.
