Nice but color dos not match
12 October 2014
Summary: This lens is like new can not tell difference that is refurbish .Deceiving part is the color red that dos not mach Nikon 1 J3 color of camera body.lens is bright red .I will still use it ,but I have been looking for color that would mach the camera body .Price was reasonable.
Summary: Picture quality is excellent. The size is manageable especially for long days like Disney. I haven't checked it for speed yet. I own other SLR s and for now this one is a pretty good all around choice.
Summary: For anyone who has used DX format Nikons, this lens will seem miniscule despite covering the equivalent 55-200 range on a DX. Aurofocus is fast but not as fast as the 10-18.5 1 Nikon kit lens or the 10mm and 18,5mm primes. I'm sure image quality is limited by the V1 and J1 bodies. I'm looking for ward to the results when DxOMark rating come out when matched up to the V3 body.
Summary: This is a very good telephoto lens for the Nikon 1 system. I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of images it produces, and is one of three lenses in my small go-anywhere V1 kit, along with the 18.5/1.8 and 10/2.8. It's a tiny lens for what it does. I could get the same coverage by hooking up an F-mount lens, but any option I have would be much bigger. Bokeh is decent at longer focal lengths, even though the aperture is pretty slow.
Excerpt: This lens is the perfect addition to the standard 10-30mm lens that came with my Nikon J1. I took to Machu Picchu, Peru and left my "big camera and lens" at home. It did a great job and was light weight, yet durable...perfect for capturing high quality photos while I was hiking and climbing. It was also small enough to not draw a lot of attention as a tourist, making it easy to keep myself and camera secure.
Summary: If you have the Nikon 1, this is a great lens to get. The extra range over the kit lens is pretty good. Maybe not the best f-stop range, but pretty average. And if you are going to be shooting outside, a really good lens. I wouldn't use this lens in low-light as you won't be able to get good pictures. Overall, a good walking around lens for this camera.
