Summary: I tried the non-D version of this lens for a little while. It comes from a completely different era of zoom lenses, so its biggest drawbacks are the rotating front element and focusing distance. This is one of those lenses that has different focusing distances for varying focal lengths, so you (or the camera) are constantly re-focusing.I paid so little for the used one I had that I decided to try the Tamron SP 24-135 and have never looked back.
