Summary: This was a lens that I really, really wanted. I have owned Nikons since the early 70's and I have always owned Nikon glass. This is the best lens that I have ever owned, bar none. I sold off a lot of equipment in order to make this purchase and I have no regrets. I really can't say enough good about this lens as it is that good. I thought my work was sharp before, but this is much better. It can focus 4" in front of the front element.
Summary: This seems to be a great addition to the other Nikon lens i have. It has the quietest and smoothest focus of any lens I have used. It has the ability to shoot interiors in low light and with the extra wide zoom the overall width of the room is in great focus. It appears that Nikon has gone all out with this lens and the optics are the usual high quality glass that Nikon is known for.
Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Sharp Focus, Strong Construction
Summary: I absolutely love this lens. It pretty much lives on my camera, and if I could have only one, this would be it. I bought it new over the 14-24, after trying both, because the range is more useful and it can take filters. I'm glad I did. The lens is VERY sharp, autofocuses very quickly, and pictures taken with it have an almost magical quality. It's an older design, but still one of the best.
Pros: Durable, Quick Focus, Rugged, Sharp, Strong Construction
Summary: I use this lens in conjunction with a 14mm f2.8 and 28mm f3.5 PC on my film cameras (F5 and F100) for b/w architectural and landscape work. It is an exceptional lens. Due to the price (it's not cheap) I delayed buying it until recently because I had the Nikon 20-35 which I purchased when it first came out. When I got the 17-35 I did an immediate lens test with the 20-35. The 17-35 was noticeably sharper.
Pros: Durable, Nearly silent focusing, Quick Focus, Rugged, Strong Construction, Will take 77mm filters
Summary: I love this lens! Its very sharp...as expected. To be honest I just got it so I haven't tested it in alot of different situations, thats why just the 4 stars. But as far as low light and indoor portraits I couldn't be happier.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Sharp Focus, Strong Construction
