Summary: I do not recommend this lens if you want to have some with which you can take photos. Its capabilities are limited. one of 18-55 mm lenses is better than this if you want to take a building picture. As you guess ,it has no zoom capability. and i do not think that it deserves $200 . But it is so light .:)) because it is plastic . Nevertheless it can be useful in taking portrait pictures.
Summary: Great image quality, Constant front-focus ALways focuses slightly in front of what I am focusing on. I have a D60. Took to camera shop - they calibrated the autofocus sensor on the camera - the thing still is front focusing. Horrible and unusable autofocus on this thing. Returned it and bought the 100 dollar AF version (which has less barrel distortion). Manual focus with it is more accurate than the crappy autofocus on the AF-S version.
Summary: Bought this for my real estate website thinking it was an upgrade from my older 50mm...boy was I wrong. The following review is written so that you do not make the same mistake. (I hope Nikon is listening!) PROS - It's small, I'll give it that. It would probably fit in most photo vest pockets. - Lightweight (less than a pound). - Very thorough instruction manual--not a lot of fluff here...
